The services and policies explained in this document apply only to faculty and staff of Nebraska Wesleyan University.
NWU ID CARDS In order to borrow library materials all NWU faculty must have a university ID card. ID cards can be obtained from the Registrar's Office in Smith-Curtis Room 206.
Borrowing by proxy The proxy borrowing service provides faculty members with the option to designate others to retrieve materials from the library, and have those materials charged to the staff or faculty member's library account.
In order to take advantage of this service, the following conditions must be met: 1) The faculty or staff member is responsible for all materials
charged by his or her proxy. 2) The proxy must have a note from the faculty or staff member stating that charges on the faculty or staff member's library account by the proxy are allowed.
Please remember to update your information if you change your name, move, or get a new email address.
LOAN PERIODS Faculty and staff may check out circulating books for the semester. Loan periods for other materials may vary. Please contact the circulation desk (or phone at 465-2400) with questions regarding loan periods.
RENEWALS Most materials can be renewed twice unless a recall has been placed on them.
To renew your materials: 1) call the circulation desk at 465-2400; 2) visit the circulation desk in person; 3) renew online via WebCat. To do this, you must have your library ID number
and your PIN. Contact circulation for assistance.
OVERDUE FINES AND OTHER CHARGES In general, faculty and staff are not charged overdue fines. If an item is lost or damaged beyond repair,
however, the replacement cost will be assessed (determined on an individual basis; depends on a number of factors including whether or not the item is still available from the publisher) plus a processing fee
(currently $25.00).
CONFIDENTIALITY OF LIBRARY RECORDS Cochrane-Woods Library has a responsibility to safeguard the confidentiality of information about any
individual's use of the library. Circulation records are not made available to non-library staff members, unless compelled by court order. This policy is in compliance with the "American Library Association
Statement on Professional Ethics" and with Legislative Bill 108, approved by the 88th Nebraska Legislature, 1st Session, 1983.
Questions regarding this policy should be addressed to the Head of Library Operations.
RESERVE MATERIALS Faculty and staff may place books, articles, and other materials on reserve for the use of their
students. Reserve materials are kept at the circulation desk for the duration of the semester. You must bring items to be placed on reserve to the circulation desk, and fill out a "Reserve Request Form." All
reserves must be picked up at the end of the semester. Please call the Circulation Desk at 465-2400 if you have questions.
The fine print
All library materials must be checked out before leaving the library.
You are financially responsible for each item charged on your card. If your card is lost or stolen, you should report it immediately to the circulation
desk. Cards may only be used by the person to whom they are issued. There will be no transfer of overdues or fines from one borrower to another. Materials must be returned in the same condition as when they were
checked out.
As always, if you have questions or suggestions regarding our circulation policies, please call the circulation desk at 465-2400, or send an email.
